The reason you struggled with school is simple. You are too clever. I know. School was simply BORING and didn’t interest me. I had learning problems(still have) and couldn’t remember things. I could figure out things and often disagreed with the rest of my class, many times be right. I still have to understand things to remember it, that way I can figure it out long after others has forgotten it.
After school I went to study electronics that had interested me for years. Suddenly it all made sense and was easy to understand and remember, as I could see what I was learning was applicable in real life. If I remember or understood it incorrectly, things simply wouldn’t work and I could check the books again.
School unfortunately tries to get a few different directions of subject groups where those people has the same kind of knowledge. Like a production line where it starts getting everyone on the same convyer belt, and then ends in a few different lines. But I understand they can’t develop a different subject line for everyone.
Just wanted to say you are not alone with your school problem. You just think differently than most people, which made you solve a lot of problems. If everyone thinks the same, they will do the same and get the same outcomes, so some problems won’t be solved. We need more people who has different ways of thinking to solve problems.
